J. Huete Greenhouses recently built a state-of-the-art greenhouse for Takii Europe in Spain. This innovative project was designed to improve agricultural productivity and meet the specific needs of Takii Europe, a leading company in the horticultural sector.
The greenhouse has been meticulously divided into three main zones: a compartmentalized growing bench area, a dedicated growing area, and a mid-area equipped with advanced agricultural tools that boost yield and help meet the client’s objectives.
The structure has been built with high-quality materials such as galvanized pillars, gutters, capitals, arches, and trusses, ensuring long-term durability and strength. It incorporates butterfly and super-zenith ventilation in various zones, as well as perimeter ventilation in the growing area, providing precise climate control and optimal airflow.
To ensure ideal growing conditions, the greenhouse features double-walled, inflated plastic covers in specific areas, cellular panels, triple-layer plastic, and sandwich panels. Integrated gutters collect rainwater and channel it into a reservoir, promoting efficient and sustainable water use. It also incorporates shading screens, air recirculators, and extractors that stabilize the indoor climate.
The system of fixed growing benches with adjustable height (0.9 m) and sliding trays, available with two types of bottoms, facilitates effective crop management. Energy-efficient LED lighting ensures optimal illumination for plant growth. The entire system is complemented by advanced climate control, environmental monitoring, and high-precision electrical systems.
A key component of the project is the highly energy-efficient air handling unit, developed to minimize the greenhouse’s CO₂ footprint and maximize its energy efficiency. This unit provides advanced management of indoor air quality, optimizing seasonal efficiency through an innovative heat pump defrost control system. It incorporates pioneering technology that leverages an additional refrigeration circuit with an inverter compressor to efficiently recover energy. It also features a subcooler placed in series with the condenser, significantly improving system efficiency by reducing the compressors’ power consumption, among other features.

The system is managed by weather stations, temperature sensors, and control software that enables real-time monitoring and automatic adjustment of environmental parameters. The facility also features an irrigation system with ultraviolet light disinfection, ensuring a clean and safe water supply for crops.
“We are delighted to have completed another project for Takii Europe. This is a highly technical, state-of-the-art greenhouse,” comments Javier Huete, CEO of J. Huete Greenhouses. “Our commitment to quality and innovation is reflected in every detail of this project, and we are confident that it will significantly contribute to improving Takii Europe’s agricultural operations in Spain.”
