J. Huete Greenhouses has completed the second phase of a glass greenhouse renovation project in northern Spain for Planasa, where we focused on one hectare dedicated to raspberry cultivation. This ambitious project includes technological and structural improvements that will allow our client to increase its efficiency and agricultural yield.
First, we installed pest-repellent mesh on the windows to ensure a protected environment against insects and other pests, thereby reducing the need for pesticides and improving plant health. We also optimized traffic within the greenhouse with new anterooms, facilitating the movement of people and equipment, improving logistics, and reducing the risk of cross-contamination.
Moving air will be key to maintaining an optimal environment. We incorporated horizontal air recirculators in the anterooms and vertical air recirculators inside the greenhouse. These devices will create active microclimates, reducing humidity and optimizing energy costs by improving air distribution. In addition, we have installed a high-pressure misting system, known as the Fog System, which will maintain optimal humidity conditions for raspberry cultivation, helping to control temperature and reducing water stress on the plants.
Advanced cultivation tables will also play a crucial role in this renovation. Movable microtunnel trays have been used, which will improve the system’s climate tightness and efficiency, allowing for more precise management of the microclimate around the plants. Regarding heating, we have implemented a new boiler and a modulating gas burner with overhead tubes, providing efficient and uniform heating, crucial for the plants’ acclimatization areas.
Irrigation and water control will be optimized with the installation of booster pumps, irrigation carts, and micro-sprinkler systems. These systems will ensure precise and efficient irrigation, optimizing water use and ensuring that the plants receive the exact amount of water needed. In addition, the electrical and climate control systems have been improved with new electrical panels and advanced sensors, allowing for automation and a more effective response to environmental conditions.
Finally, the complementary infrastructure includes a cutting and planting room, as well as a cold storage room, ensuring the quality of the final product and providing adequate space for handling and storing the raspberries.
J. Huete Greenhouses, 30 Years of Quality and Excellence
This is a turnkey project, something we specialize in. Every detail is designed to maximize productivity, minimize environmental impact, and facilitate crop management. With decades of experience, we know that an efficient greenhouse is the key to agricultural success, something we have been demonstrating since 1995 in more than 40 countries. J. Huete Greenhouses’ latest greenhouse projects are located in Portugal, Japan, Colombia, Senegal, Chile, and the United Kingdom, among others. They combine engineering work with the installation of top-quality materials, even in the most extreme climates.
