J. Huete Greenhouses is building the new Planta Livre nurseries in Portugal

  • The Spanish company strengthens its presence in the European market with the development of a new professional shading infrastructure for one of the leading companies in the nursery sector in the region.
  • Planta Livre, a company dedicated to the production and marketing of ornamental plants and a leader in the national market in this segment, currently has more than 80 hectares of production area distributed between the Sintra and Cabeceiras de Basto regions.

J. Huete Greenhouses is the company responsible for developing Planta Livre’s new nursery infrastructure in Portugal, a project that strengthens the collaboration between two companies linked to the growth, technological advancement, and professionalization of plant production.

The project involves the construction of a professional shade structure of over 21,000 square meters, designed to meet the operational needs of a well-established nursery company with a prominent position in its production sector. The project is conceived as a robust, functional facility adapted to the daily work of a modern nursery, where plant protection, structural durability, and efficient management are key factors.

For J. Huete Greenhouses, this project represents a further step in its international activity and consolidates its presence in Portugal, a strategic market due to its agricultural dynamism and the growing presence of companies specializing in plant production, nurseries, and professional cultivation.

The new structure will feature a galvanized steel frame, steel pillars, longitudinal and transverse roof profiles, reinforcing bracing, and a technical mesh roofing system. The solution has been designed to provide stability, strength, and safety in a large-area installation, avoiding simplified approaches and opting for a technical execution tailored to the demands of a professional company.

One of the project’s distinguishing features will be the roofing fixing system, developed by J. Huete Greenhouses using proprietary profiles designed to improve the safety, durability, and ease of installation and maintenance of the mesh. This type of solution enhances the overall quality and ensures better structural performance under continuous use and environmental conditions.

The installation will also incorporate hanging sliding doors, perimeter profiles, and structural reinforcements using triangulations and cross bracing, elements that contribute to improving the rigidity of the shade structure both transversely and longitudinally.

With this project, Planta Livre advances in the development of new production capabilities, while J. Huete Greenhouses reinforces its role as a technical partner for agricultural and nursery companies seeking professional, durable infrastructure tailored to their actual production needs.

The collaboration between the two companies reflects an increasingly visible trend in the sector: the need for agricultural facilities designed with technical criteria, capable of supporting the growth of established companies and meeting current standards of efficiency, safety, and quality.

J. Huete Greenhouses thus adds another project to its portfolio in the Iberian Peninsula, consolidating its experience in the design and manufacture of structures for professional agriculture and strengthening its position as a specialized supplier for companies that require customized solutions for nurseries, greenhouses, and protected cultivation systems.

This project joins those recently developed in Almería (several hectares of greenhouses with a heating system for intensive cultivation all year round), Japan (greenhouse with an MGS system for the cultivation of hydroponic lettuce), Chile (research greenhouses for seeds for a major multinational) and the Region of Murcia (fifteen hectares of large-volume greenhouse for hydroponic production of gourmet cherry tomatoes).
