Today, greenhouses have become one of the most efficient and sustainable solutions for large-scale agricultural production. Thanks to technology and innovation, smart systems have been developed to improve the productivity and profitability of greenhouse projects. From optimizing irrigation and fertilization processes to climate control and the use of renewable energy, greenhouses have become indispensable tools for agricultural production. In this summary post, we will explore some of our most innovative and sustainable greenhouse projects around the world.

Some examples of greenhouse projects worldwide
In Spain
J. Huete International has a long-standing relationship with Salvador Belmonte S.L., a company belonging to the BioSabor cooperative in Almeria, Spain. J. Huete International designed and built the single-window greenhouses that Salvador Belmonte S.L. initially started with, but the installation has since evolved to include zenithal butterfly ventilation, thermal screens, hot water heating, and double plastic coating.
These advancements have allowed the farm to have better climate control and reduce temperature losses. As one of J. Huete International’s oldest customers, Salvador Belmonte S.L. is part of the thirty hectares of greenhouses designed and built for the BioSabor cooperative, which focuses on organic and ecological products.
In Portugal
J. Huete International has successfully implemented a positive pressure system in a Medical Cannabis facility in Portugal to protect the plants from parasites and diseases. This system creates an environment inside the greenhouse that repels insects and pests. The high-tech installation includes shading screens, perimeter ventilation, insect screens, a water heating system, climate control, automatic irrigation systems, and artificial lighting.
Amir Abbas Khan, project manager for Medical Cannabis at J. Huete International, states that the positive pressure system was a nice challenge to take on and that it is a comprehensive and very complete project in which they have been involved from the conception of the idea. This project showcases J. Huete International’s expertise in greenhouse design and advanced technology.
In Mexico
J. Huete International collaborated with VPM, a Mexican tomato producer, on a high-tech greenhouse project to grow tomatoes in 2011. Initially, VPM planned to grow beef tomatoes for a contract with a US company. However, with J. Huete International’s advice, VPM decided to ally with a strategic partner to export TOV tomatoes to both the US and Canada. J. Huete International provided full support and worked closely with VPM to build the first phase of three hectares of 9.6′ greenhouses with double overhead ventilation, air heating, a fertigation system, and a packing shed.

Following the success of the first phase, J. Huete International designed and built an additional 1.2 hectares of wider greenhouses with double zenithal ventilation, air heating, and recirculation in 2014, and another 1.3 hectares with the same characteristics in 2015. VPM continued to expand the project, adding a total of 2.7 hectares of 12.80m greenhouses with similar features and an additional 1,000 m2 of greenhouses in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
In the United Kingdom
J. Huete International has recently been involved in a sustainable strawberry cultivation project that aims to manage pests and diseases in an integrated way while minimizing the use of phytosanitary products. This innovative project involves the use of raised troughs with coconut substrate to grow the crops, which improves root development, prevents root diseases, extends production cycles, and improves yields. To support this project, J. Huete International designed and built a greenhouse with advanced technology that includes a reinforced structure, a double roof window, and double plastic inflated cladding that helps to preserve the temperature inside and save on gas consumption. Recirculators and air generators running on gas were also installed.

J. Huete International’s involvement in sustainable greenhouse projects is not new. The company has a long list of works carried out on five continents, and it has been working for years on the design and calculation of structures, technological components, performance systems, and the manufacture of straw that bring new possibilities to the agricultural sector. The company also collaborates in research projects with various institutions, such as the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and the Centre for Technological and Industrial Development, to further advance sustainable greenhouse technologies.

Having a trusted provider to design and manufacture profitable greenhouse projects is essential for farmers and growers who want to optimize their production and reduce their environmental impact. A well-designed and constructed greenhouse can significantly increase yields and efficiency while reducing resource consumption and waste.
At J. Huete International, we understand the importance of providing high-quality greenhouse solutions that meet the specific needs and goals of each client.
